    Default Redeye skipper

Shot this redeye skipper at MNT today. The whitish band on the hindwing could not be matched to any redeye skipper in the checklist. Any suggestion on its ID?

There's too little information to work on, Horace. Just keep the shot and file it under your UFO folder. Who knows, like the latest find, you may just get it ID'ed a few years down the line!

I was looking at the write-up in C&P4 on the Giant Redeye, and in the last paragraph, it mentions a related species Gangara lebadea lebadea (plate 58, figs.3 and 4), and it writes that "...both sexes of G.lebadea are easily recognised by the rather broad purplish white band across the disc of the hindwing and the orange tornal cilia on the same wing. ...".

A look at fig.3 on plate 58 does show close resemblance to the specimen I shot at MNT.
