    I have never been unable to understand the division of Pieris into Pieris and Artogeia. They were all Pieris when I was growing up (a long, long time ago!!!)

    Eliot considered the two as subgenera & perhaps is best left as such.

    Artogeia has shorter androconia with a pear-shaped base.
    Pieris has long androconia with a similar cordate base.

    The spots & faint markings matched but the individual is very worn.
