    Ypthima watsoni watsoni.
It is doubtful if Y. norma burmana is found in India.

The Ypthimas are terribly confusing in India.

The description (on 3-rings) below are largely based on Evans'.

    1. UnF with the dark fascia forms a loop round the ocellus.
Not visible in fieldshots but suggested by dark fasciae either side of the eyespot.

    1a Y. asterope.
Unh with all the three spots very small .Dsf may have discal lines.

    1b Y. watsoni watsoni.
UnH with coarse striae & ground is paler around the ocelli.

    1c. Y. norma burmana.Also treated as a separate spp. Y. burmana.
Ground colour more uniform, finer striae.

    2. UnF without a loop around the eyespot.

    2a. Underside without submarginal fasciae.

2a1 UnH with the apical & tornal spots out of line?
    Ypthima inica.

2a2 UnH with the apical & tornal spots in line.
    Y lycus lycus.
UnF with the striae largely absent.
See fig 9, 10.Und next page.

    2b. Underside with submarginal fasciae.

    2b1. Y nareda nareda.
UnF submarginal fascia increase in width downwards at tornus.
UnH apical ocellus not much larger than the rest, ie not larger than FW ocellus.

    2b2 Y newara newara
    UnF submarginal fascia even
UnH apical ocellus much larger than the rest, ie larger than the UnF ocellus.

    2b3 Y. confusa confusa.
Rather similar to Y. newara ,no description found.
A larger mid-margin UnH triangular dark shading might be a clue.

    TL Seow: Cheers.
PS. Selected images are what seem to fit the description well.
