    Default Magnificent Drupadia from Betong

Sadly not my shot, but from my good local friend Satawan Atdhabhan of Betong. We are not sure if is Drupadia cinesoides or johorensis

    It is Drupadia johorensis.

The difference between the two is very slight.

In D. cinesoides the HW postdiscal band is more sinuous forming a more distinct 'dome' in space 2 ,& the 'tooth is sharper.

    D. johorensis.

I notice that in johorensis the orange is very dull and almost "rust-brown" and this is too vibrant orange for johorensis. Could this be cinesia?

Orange in photos is very difficult to judge, often too deep, (eg. Telicota).

Drupardia cinesia lacks the orange band/line in HW space 1b.

    Similarly so does D. cineas.

I'm sorry i meant cinesoides. cinesia is endemic to Borneo.

You do have a point, but as I said before the colour is deceptive in field shots.

The differences are so slight that individual variations may be a problem.
Besides the more sinuous postdiscal band, the 'valley ' between the two 'peaks' in space 1b is deeper & sharper in cinesoides.
Hopefully there is a good field shot for comparison in the future.

The colour difference is probably like that between Manto hypoleuca & Mantoides gama.
    M. gama recorded in Singapore is probably still extant , perhaps mistaken for Manto.

    TL Seow : Cheers.
