Loke, I prefer the RBB shot with flash, the colour looks more vivid on my screen.

For the underside shot, seems that the green stripes on yours and mine shot turns out "yellowish" on my screen. Below another example. Was it because we had flashed at it directly ?

I guess it depends on the direction of the light and the viewing angle. See attached photo. The same butterfly shows two diff colors

Ellen and me had the same effect too last year .

Loke you are right , yes the angle of incidence of the flash on the wing affects the color of the green of the RB register on the sensor. What I eventually did was either switch off the flash or tilt the flash slightly to the side in order to get the true green as seen by the naked eyes.

Surprisingly the 2 Poritia with similar underside markings are philota & sumatrae. A close comparison indicates the ID is correct.

Agree, the Poritia is a Sumatrea!

Over the years we have been trying to establish some ID keys between these two species, unfortunately the philota is rather rare and only encountered by a handful of us who had the good fortune of locating few back in 2007. Though there are subtle difference on the color and marking between the two...the only sure way of differentiating them is the upper wing.

May I add two observations that will help to clinch the ID of PPP.

1. Marginal spot in space 2 usually with a small patch of orange.

2. Marginal spot in space 4 usually large, triangular and dark.
