    Default Mycalesis , anapita or patiana?

    The two species are very confusing in fieldshots and frequently misIded.

    The orangebrown species are also placed by some authors in a separate genus Mydosama.
    The endemic M. marginata (Sumatra) and M. pitana (Borneo) have five ocelli UnF.

    The three widespread species are.

    1. Mycalesis fuscum.

    2. Mycalesis anapita.
    UnF submarginal line regular.
    UpF ocellus in space 2 clear of the black border ie its outer black ring intact, black centre white-pupiled.
    UnF ocellus 2, black ring narrower than white ring.
    Nearly always with a spot in FW space 1b.
    Dark discal line uiform brown.

    Mycalesis patiana.
    UpF ocellus 2 merged with the black border ,its outer black ring merged, black centre wholly black.
    UnF submarginal line regular.
    UnF ocellus 2 ,black ring wider than white ring.
    Rarely with a spot in space 1b, if present vestigial.
    Discal line often blackish at upper end, often with a slight dislocastion at vein 4.
