From a recent trip to southern Thailand a couple of Arophalas I would like to check (in different postings). These are all from Khao Luang NP, Nakhon Sri Thammarat. I think these are all Arhopala aurelia. Would that be correct? Many thanks. 409A3487.JPG 409A3446.JPG 409A3380.JPG
These are members of the alea subgroup of the cleander group which can be very difficult to iD from the underside alone. 1. https://www.butterflycircle.com/atta...6&d=1751894815 3. https://www.butterflycircle.com/atta...4&d=1751894658 Both probably Arhopala selta. 2. https://www.butterflycircle.com/atta...5&d=1751894666 Arhopala evansi. Arhopala aurelia is described as slatey purple with the bands edged with purplish white striae. This gives the species a distinctive look. https://yutaka.it-n.jp/lyc4f/82100001.html https://wingscales.com/Lycaenidae/Arhopala-aurelia https://thaibutterflies.com/Butterfl...opala-aurelia/ Arhopala evansi is the normal hair brown colour but the ground have a slatey wash. https://yutaka.it-n.jp/lyc4f/82130001.html https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arhopala_evansi https://blogger.googleusercontent.co...ala+evansi.jpg Arhopala selta is the usual hair brown colour.
