    Default Mass of moth caterpillars

    Saw these at Venus Drive. From a distance, the shape of the mass resembled a large tarantula. Each cat is about 4 cm long.

    The young of Painted Jezebel share the same behaviour the the larvae of both look very similiar to each other.

    I think thses are processionary moths(Notodontidae)

    This behaviour and form is typical of many Lasiocampidae (Lappet & Eggar moths).
