    Some record shots taken last Saturday.

    wow i've yet to get a solid shot of the evening brown.

    i saw at least 10-15 Emigrant today in one small area. Seems like they are all out full force!

    Actually, no. Different spp have differently coloured eyes depending on pigment bt they all can see. Some skippers have red eyes coz they tend to fly at dusk or are nocturnal.

    Actually, what Federick was trying to say in his blog regarding the Emigrant is that the opaque eye suggests a defect or handicap in the butterfly. The Orange Emigrant's eyes are typically transparent where you can see the compound eye in detail.

    This is different from the species which normally have opaque coloured eyes.
