I'm delighted that pic was shown. It is NOT Cyrestris nivea, but something even more important. It is Cyrestris thyodamus thyodamus, which has not been seen even in Malaysia before (according to C+P4)!
The easiest way to tell the species apart is from the map markings on the hind wing. In C. nivea, they are parallel, whilst in C. thyodamus they are not. There are several other differences in the markings as well, but it would take too long to point them all out. The butt is normally found from Peninsular Thailand north, and is very rare here on Samui, I have seen only one.
What a wonderful find, as this is one of my favourite non-delias butts.
I was assuming nyxx88 shot the butt in Singapore, I could be very well be wrong as CS is very international and he could have shot it elsewhere.... the exif shown the pic as shot on 31/5/07.
Lets wait for more infor from nyxx88 at CS.

Sorry to burst the bubble guys, it was shot on Lantau Island (one of the Hong Kong islands) in the wild. There were lots of other wild butts there too. So, if anyone is planning to go to HK, PM me on clubsnap (i don't come to b-pals as often) & I would be glad to share more details.
