Default 162 species of butterflies in Bangladesh

Can't believe that our little red dot has more species of butts than a country like Bangladesh, which is so many times larger. But perhaps like what the author said, there should be 500-600 species. Has development (?) in Bangladesh affected the population so drastically? Or is it just that there are too few researchers who are doing the surveys and counts?

Jahangirnar University researchers spot 36 new species of butterflies.

Probably limited research activities rather than development. They only report the species found in the university campus.

The terrain looked like very promising. River basin in the south. Mountainous region to the north.

Agree. It all depends on how extensive the previous surveys were.

It is very likely a case of information from one source only. I believe they may have more Mangrove Tree Nymphs than anywhere else.
