In the female submarginal spot 3 is a little wider than spot 4.
Both are wider than spot 2.

Four species have a very similar appearance.
The two larger species H. onyx & syrinx have the fore-tibiae banded black.
The two much smaller spp. H. albimacula & chacedonyx have the fore-tibiae largely white.

this is a large species & so the markings appear to be narrow & widely separated.
The markings are as for the cleander group.
FW band spot 4 not dislocated & HW postdiscal band fully dislocated at vein 2.
HW spot 7 sinuous in shape & spot 6 is often free-hanging.

This is better treated as a separate species from the mainland L. cyanipardus.
It also have partially orange antennal clubs whereas those of L. cyanipardus are wholly black above.
It has been upgraded by some authors as L. bangkana.
