    Hi Doctor Seow,

    Its been a while since i ask for ID since i've yet to step out of Singapore in a bit. With holidays coming, visited Penang hill for some butterflies and have a couple of ID that i would like to ask for.

    1 - Amathusia friderici? Only angle

    2 - Quedara monthethi? The white banding seems to be touching the wing, but also a bit faded for me to tell

    1. Should be correct as Amathusia friderici female.
    HW 4th band from base is irregularly constricte.
    Upperside is very variable almost black in some.

    Very similar is Amathusia binghami.
    FW median band is broad & strongly reddish.

    FW submarginal dark line forming border of marginal band strongly serrated.

    Rather worn .
    Full complement of marginal & submarginal spots.
    HW spot 7 larger & darker.
    No spot at base of space 7.
    Usually grey & well contrasted.

    Blue bands narrower, always line up neatly at rest.

    7. probably Halpe wantona.

    This belongs to a pair of species stated in the key to be not separable.
    They both have a paler discal area marked by dark interneural spots.
    The diffrence is based on an educated guess.

    Halpe wantona .
    Interneural dark spots narrower with sharp ends, so there is always a postdiscal series of paler spots from FW to HW.

    Halpe pelethronix.
    Inter neural dark spots broad with rounded ends , so the postdiscla pale spots are much reduced often as a narrow band.
