    Default Reminder -- snakes ...

Reminded by BoonSeng. So far, I only encountered the OWS at Kent Ridge tree-top walk.

    - small & shy
    - highly venomous front-fanged
    - its neurotoxic venom can cause death

A bite from the notorious Malayan Blue Coral could lead to fatality within 6 minutes -- there is no way to reach assistance in Sime Forest within 6 minutes.

However, Malayan Blue Coral tended to shy away from human. so the chance of encounter is lower. But, Banded Malayan Blue Coral may not behave similarly.
Some cobras were seen in SBG at the primary forest trail. In fact, some time ago, an NPSS member shot it in action, eating a frog.

Gekko or gecko? Definitely not geoko.

Very sinister-looking eyes of that Oriental Whip Snake.

Here are the 3 shots of that cobra shot at SBG. Can't remember who the photographer was, but it was posted at NPSS a long time ago. All credits to him.

So please becareful when you go to SBG, even in its rather "urban" location. I suppose snakes can appear anywhere.
