forgot one more picture. Another plain nawab feeding on what i think is a rambutan seed? Strangely, it looks identical to the one i shot on the fern earlier in the day, except it has a slightly torn wing on both sides.

could it be the exact same one? if so, it must've ran into a bird or something..

The first one looks like it's already got something wrong with the lower tail on the other side. I can only see one. Maybe the wing was already torn, and when it flew, the wear and tear took off that bit?

It should be the same one. This individual have a black dot in the forewing cell not usually present in this species.

good eye dr seow,

but a quick search on google yielded many results with P. hebe having black spot on forewing cell.

here's one which i shot in my home which eclosed, also showing the same spot.

*coincidentally, also on the same species of fern. but this one's in my home

You are right, the black dot doesn't work.
However, all the markings & their shapes matched correctly.
There are 2 v-shaped scratches on vein 3 which runs & ends between the 2 tails. These also matched.

This last one here( apart from differently shaped markings) also have 2 scratches on vein 3 but they are linear.

looks like they are the same one afterall! scratches that i didn't notice before suggests that it probably was not a freshly eclosed one.

I enjoyed watching one beautiful image after another! William
