Are they both part of apaturinae?

Yes. They both belong to the subfamily Apaturinae.

Wow, you have so many amazing butterflies! I don't recall seeing photos of many of these. The photos are fantastic.

Was the Indian Purple Emperor hard to approach?

Those jezebels were fantastic! Les must have been ecstatic to see these.

I look forward to many more photos from the trip.

The Indian Purple Emperor was rather common there. So it was not too difficult to find one which was "drunk" on the ground.

The weather was generally good when we were at Chiang Dao. Perhaps it was not the right time to look for montane species.
