Dear Doctor Seow,

Here are some past observation that i need require some assistance on. I find it tough to sort through these, and im still using the moth of borneo website to sort out even just at family level.

Distinctive but no match found.

2. Ericeia inangulata.
Three species are very similar & confusing as each also varies widely.

a. E. inangulata. HW rounded.
Male with submarginal strongly zigzag ,with the angles sharp pointed.
Female with apical pale spots, a subtornal black spot & weak submarginal.

5. Organopoda perobata.

Two species have very large HW spots & also a white spot on the FW.

6. Acropteris rectinervata.

Two species are very similar.

Acropteris rectinervata is much commoner.
The veins in both sexes are normal & straight.
The white marginal band is almost uniform in width, only slightly wider at the apex.

Acropteris grammearia.
The veins in the female are normal & straight.
In the male thw veins are closer in the middle, curving out to the margin.
The white marginal band is more abruptly widen at the apex.

Very likely Amata wallacei.
Thiis belongs to a group in which the FW have five rounded white spots.

As Holloway explains the species are IDed particularly on the male genitaliia as the yellow rings on the abdomen may varies.
There are several similar species in Borneo, but only A. wallacei has been identified in P. Malaysia.
All other similar spp., A. elisa, elisoides, epiceelisa, cinctelisa & megista are endemic to Borneo.

In A. wallacei the abdomen have only two yellow/orange rings in Borneo, but that in java, Sumatra and so likely in P. malaysia as well have a couple more abdominal rings.
