Troides amphrysus and T. cuneifera.

These two Sundanian species are very similar and often confused.
Since they can vary a fair bit in different regions, the descriptions here are for the subspecies in peninsular Malaysia.

Amphrysus, a river in Thessaly, ancient Greece.
ruficollis...red collar.

FW with the veinstripes relatively clear throughout.
In some males may be weak.
Thorax with a red collar which may be obscure or hard to see.
Thorax beneath wholly black.
Female FW rather brown.
Female HW submarginal spots 2 and 3 tend to be long pointed.

The nominate ssp from Java is remarkable for having HW black wedges

FW with the apical parts of the veinstripes fading & becoming obscure.
This is much more apparent in the male, variable.
It is rather weak in the female, the apical stripes being merely darkened.
Thorax with the collar black and red marks on the sides.
Female with HW submarginal spots 2 & 3 more rounded.
