I am not certain if this is a female and if it is does it match the key?

C&P4 pg 138 Key for separation of the species of FAUNIS

3. Female underside hindwing dark median band not traceable below vein 3on account of the dark tornal area. Female underside dark median band broader ( More than 2 mm), Outwardly diffuse, and not crenulate on the forewing . F kirata.

It is a female Faunis kirata.
Here is the amended key in the update in MNJ 2006.
Female underside hindwing median band irregular,serrate in places on either side & strongly bent outwards in space 6.

The late Lt. Col. J. N. Eliot in his "Updating The Butterflies of the Malay Peninsula" pointed out both Trogonoptera and Ornithoptera should be re-instated as full genera (Malaysian Nature Journal vol 59, no.1: page 5, 2006). I know many BC members don't have a copy of the update.

Looks like a good outing. What are conditions like now? Are you receiving much sun? I saw more species and numbers of butterflies on my June trip a year ago when compared to the trip in March of this year. The days, though, were often grey.

David , The number of butterfly sighted at Panti Forest has been on the decline.
