The two looked identical. According to C&P4, their difference is at the upperside. do we have the upperside to confirm the identification? ;P

Heh... no such luck. This is the most difficult genus to tackle, and even C&P4 does not show upperside/underside, male/female for all the species. So it's going to be difficult going. I have roughly ID'ed at least 15 species of Arhopala, but can never be sure. :hmmm:Quote:

Again, the advice is to look at the key in C&P4. ;P Not easy though - it's like winding thru' a maze. :sweat: What seems different in certain species are considered "variations" whereas in other species, they are the characteristic ID features. So you gotta remove C&P4 from its doorstop function and read it! :bsmile:
Take a look at the shot on my website of Arhopala epimuta. Slight differences, but if you don't compare with another, can easily be confused. :stupid:
A. epimuta's hindwing/underside has one less crown compared to A. amphimuta and A. major. ;PQuote:
