Bee-mimic moth and friends

Still shooting NL...no news of my MT24EX.

1. An amazing bee-mimic moth. When I saw it in-flight, I thought it was a bee. When it perched, I took a closer look and realized it was a moth! ID appreciated!

2. a lower mag shot. Took a few side profile handheld, high iso but none of it worked out.

3. Amazing mimicry. Found this moth at a highland resort.

5. A huge moth, as big as my my palm!

The bee mimic is a Melittia sp.(Sesiidae) and #5 is an Antherea sp.(Saturniidae).
Nice collection of bromeliads btw.:grin2:

I have a photo of the Sesiid, and it is still in my UFO file, after 3 years, there are so few sources of info on this family.

2&3 are an Arguda species (Lassiocampidae).

6 is Ambulyx substrigilis. We saw a strongly marked specimen of this is Danum Valley.

8 is a Phalera species (Notodontidae)

All taken at a highland in Pahang. Lots of insects and moths there in the morning. They leave the light on at night to attract bugs. In the morning, lots of birds will come to prey on the insects. A great place for birders and macro photographers :)

Wow, I am amazed by that bee-mimic moth. What an incredible creature! The other photos are all excellent as well.
