Butterfly Trail Singapore Pictures are obtained from Butterfly Interest Group(BIG) - Nature Society (Singapore)
http://butterfly.nss.org.sg/home/

As quoted from the facebook page...

BC should not be portrayed as being part of BIG, or affiliated with NSS.

fired my salvo over there at the thread:

Did you get permission to feature some of the shots by members of ButterflyCircle???

Your pictures also contain some butterflies that are not extant on Singapore , they are species taken over in Malaysia .

It should only contain pictures of species actually shot on the yet to be launched Butterfly Trail. The infor and pictures contain there in is misleading as they lead readers to think that those caterpillar and species are present along the trail .

If you are representing Nature Society of Singapore, may I say this is not the standard of work expected from a Nature Society.

Another of those image smugglers?
They MUST ask for permission! And its really dumb of them to
showcase butterflies, yet know nothing about them and where they are found!

Note sent to the President again. ;P I like your comment about the "standard of work". :bsmile:

Maybe they're planning on importing some foreign talent in.

Well said, Jonathan. You should go blast them too.

My response to some of the comments on the thread

http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=703042

All of a sudden there is a craze in butt shooting over at Clubsnap Macro section (http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=12) this will also help newbies to attempt ID their shots:

It is an ethical and copyright question and not a question of whether we want to help or do not want to help.

For those who need help to identify a local butterfly and understand it more , the following hotlinks will take you to where the resources are :

1. The official 294 butterfly species extant in Singapore (adopted by Nparks) is constantly being updated and maintain at this thread.

As we speak species 295 has been rediscovered just hours ago and will be added to the list when we ascertain what subspecies it is.

Click on pic to access and click on Red Dot in the frame for detail description of the species.

2. A photo checklist with multiple photos of these 294 species is also available in the following URL and accessible to the public.

When in the frame click on pictures to reveal a short description , more picture of the species, its hostplant, early stages and lifecycle article link if it has been recorded.

Hi Sunny,
My ubin trip butterfly shoot was not tied to this sudden craze.

I was inspired by those butterfly shots you and other members posted in CS macro section much earlier.

I had a good time at Butterflyhill @ ubin :)

I read some where in a blog that the design of the Ubin Butterfly Hill layout was by the administrator here. this is really

Cheers,
David

Hi David,

Thank you on the feedback of "Sharing a Few Butterflies "Thread.:)

Yes Papilio aka Commander here was the consultant and architect that help Nparks in the design of the Butterfly Hill at Pulau Ubin.

We are glad that it is a success and has become another place for Macro shooter to hone their skill.

A belated welcome to ButterflyCircle !!

We hope you have a rewarding and enjoyable stay with us!

Cheers!

Thank you Sunny and Anthony for the warm welcome. I have little experience shooting butterflies. I shoot other bug/insects most of time.

Have posted my shots at the butterfly photo sub forum.

Pretty newbie shots. Need to learn from you guys how to shoot properly.
