Yes. All Straight Pierrots. :) The basal black band on the forewing are all straight, although the 2nd specimen is rather strange. But I've seen quite a range of variability in this species, and the Singapore cousin, the Elbowed Pierrot.

Hi Mr Loh,

I have collected the same specimens from Langkawi and Kuala Kubu Bharu- Selangor on Dec 2004 and Sep 2006 respectively. One of the specimen with one side conjoined post discal band but the other side not.

It is ok if not too much of trouble. Just want to make sure it is not a new species in above shot. :bsmile:

Thanks Teo. It seems like those from Langkawi are abit different in marking and size. Interesting.

Yes, LC. Both specimens 6 and 7 were collected at same location: Durian Perangin waterfall - Langkawi. The reasons for variation may due to individuals possess different combinations from the selection of genes available to them, and partly because of the varying environmental factors (e.g. host plant quality, etc). The geographical variation can be their behaviour to biochemistry, but normally shown in size, wing pattern and anatomy.
