Khew ,

Thank you for the latest article on the yellows at the Blog .............I was blurred like an old sotong for 2 years on the cell spots.;P

Hopefully with this article everyone is in a better equipped to ID these similar looking yellows.

Anyone wanna venture explaining what is a "Cell Spot" ???:)

Most welcome, Sunny. I thought that it would be useful, since like you said, a picture paints a thousand words... ;P

For the clue on what 'cell spots' are. Refer first to what Les had posted some time back on the parts of a butt's wing (http://www.butterflycircle.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5921). Look for the cell, and the answer should be clear... :grin2:

ah this will settle the big question mark above my head when i try to ID yellows when i pair it up with Les article on the butterfly description terms.

They are the black specks within the cell of the butt's forewing underside.:grin2:

now i can tell the common grass yellow and 3 spot grass yellow apart!
used to be like sotong.
