Too bad it was raining most of the time in Belum RAINforest. The longest non stop was more than 36 hours when I was there  The place that I stayed is wrong too. Just a tiny island where the resort located, no place to go around for shooting. Wrong time & wrong place instead. :mad2:

Just managed a few shots from this trip. There are 3 shots need IDs from all the experts. Many thanks

Graphium arycles arycles (The Spotted Jay)

Not bad, considering the washout over there...

Nice to see the Green Jay (I call it Green Jay as opposed to our Tailed Jay). And woo~ the White Imperial!

I believe the small tailed bugger is a Prosotas pia, whilst the other UFO looks more like a Tailless Line Blue.

For the Caerulean, it's not a Jamides alecto. Something else that I can't be sure of.

Glad you at least enjoyed the rain! Think of Australia, which is suffering a drought... :bsmile:

Good harvest actually considering you have sighted the White royal (rare to me) and the Green jay is excellent.the colour and composition....very appealing to me :)

You do not seem to be having much luck, weatherwise, with your trips at the moment LC. A rainy CH and now this. Where is Belum please?

Great sightings, particularly the Great White Imperial and Spotted Jay.

I agree with SK about the two Prosotas species.

Trust me, don't go in December. Best time is April.

You have a lot over there too. Malaysia is just a few hours from your place. Traveling up here is cheap too. :)

Refer to here for Belum, one of the oldest forest in the world. It is about 130million years old but not the butts. http://www.tourism.gov.my/en/destinations/item.asp?item=belumforest

It is just 2+ hours drive from Penang. Nearer than going to CH.
Thanks for the IDs too.

pertaining to White Imperial, It is not uncommon, I have seen them quite a few times in my area in Selangor. Just that they are usually stay high in the trees. That makes us hard to get a good shot of it. As for this too, it was shot quite far away on the tree. Probably you guys should start looking up, it maybe found in SG too.

:) No such luck yet. The White Imperial flies quite fast, and looks almost like a Striped Albatross or one of the Pieridae when in flight. The white wings make it appear larger than it really is, when it's flying.

It has this habit of settling under leaves as well, so not easy to shoot. You should look for a pristine specimen where the tails are longer and sharper.

D700 great camera coming from a Canon user. Price is reasonable for a FF. Great ISO capabilities, excellent focusing speed, sufficient burst rate/buffer. the list is endless. If i'm a Nikon user, this IS the camera i'll be using. No doubt.

Sadly i'm a Canon user & none were in the price & category.

Cheers!
