While looking for aphids for the Miletus cat, a butt swiped down from the tree top and flew around me for a while. Initially I thought it was a Commander, but I changed the ID to a female Euthalia adonia once I had a closer look on the camera LCD.

Checking the shots against those in the BC checklist, C&P4 and Pisuth's book revealed some aberration in the spaces 6 and 7 in the forewing. On both upperside and underside, this butt has the white subapical spots and postdiscal spots in both spaces 6 and 6 joined together, with the ones in space 6 forming a continuous band.

Could this be a subspecies of Euthalia adonia or just an aberration?

Interesting find. Unless we found more than 1 specimen with such characteristic, otherwise most likely can only conclude as aberrant.

I agree with what you say. Will keep a look out for this.

If anyone is interested, this butt was found at the same location where I last sighted Two-spotted Line Blue.

Likely to be an aberration.
