Not bad... the blog still chugging along quite strongly. 29 articles in five months since the 'publishing' started in Nov 07. That's on average an article a week or 5.8 articles per month. :cheers:

3 Apr 2008 update.

Butterfly of the Month : April 2008 : The Plane (http://butterflycircle.blogspot.com/2008/04/butterfly-of-month.html)

Featuring the elusive Plane (Bindahara phocides phocides). A rare forest butterfly which makes its appearance in the nature reserves and even urban parks once in a while, and the recent spotting of it at the fringe of the nature reserves is an indication that it's still around in the vicinity. :)

I can see Australia (Melbourne, Sydney but what's that one in the middle), Indonesia (Jakarta), Singapore, Malaysia (Sarawak), Philippines, Thailand (must be Les), Vietnam, China/Hong Kong (must be Roger), Bangladesh, Oman, Iran :hmmm:, Finland, Italy, Czech Republic, Germany, England, Brazil, Mexico and USA (can't name all the cities, anyone wants to help?).

Butterfly of the Month : May 2008 : The Plain Nawab (http://butterflycircle.blogspot.com/2008/05/butterfly-of-month-may-2008.html)

Featuring the Plain Nawab (Polyura hebe plautus). A magnificent large and robust butterfly that can be found in urban areas as well as in the nature reserves. The Plain Nawab is very often a favourite amongst photographers as it is quite easy to shoot when feeding or stopping at its favourite perch to rest.

One of our Indonesian blog readers has spotted (and shot) a Tawny Coster in Bogor, West Java, two days ago. Looks like the TC is a world traveller moving down south steadily. I wonder if it will ever reach Australia? :thinking:

Thanks guys. At least I know there are people who read the articles that Horace and I write weekly. ;P

Bobby, yes it would be nice, but unfortunately these Scientific Latin names don't have that type of public appeal that a dictionary service provider would want to feature those words.

Life Histories series : The Narrow Spark (Sinthusa nasaka amba) (http://butterflycircle.blogspot.com/2008/07/life-history-of-narrow-spark.html)

Horace manages to nail the life history of the Narrow Spark. This species was not in the early authors' checklists and was discovered by ButterflyCircle members in a small forested patch on the fringe of the nature reserves. Our sharp-eyed life histories expert managed to spot a female ovipositing on its host plant, and the rest, they say, is (life) history! :grin2:

Our blog has just hit the 50 posts mark, and we've still manage to chug along with at least 1 post per week, since Nov last year. My sincere appreciation to Horace, who has been churning out his Life Histories series with excellent write-ups, info and pictures.

Henceforth, I will stop making announcements in here, but will post the updates at the main portal at www.butterflycircle.com (http://www.butterflycircle.com).

Thanks to those who have contributed to the Blog in one way or another. :cheers:
