spotted this skipper with neo. actually neo spotted it. i just took the photo.

any can id this?

Look like Hasora schoenherr chuza (Yellow Banded Awl). I got a shot at USR also.

looks like it's Yellow Banded Awl... wonder if it's ovipositing, cos it was zooming here and there, couldn't stay still... and this shot showed that it's touching the leaf...

seems like feeding & not ovipositing...so did u chk or too high up?

it's too high up. that little fella only manage to fill up the AF point of my cam. The pic was cropped heavily and so unfortunately it had to be backlighted.

However, it was flying around point to point pointing it's rear end to the leaves for several seconds before flying off again and repeating it again.

OT:ovipositing means "lay egg" is it? :embrass: search online seems to mean that leh... but just want to confirm. :sweat:

Yup, ovipositing means laying eggs in entomological terminology. Comes from the words "ovum"(as in egg) and "deposit". :)
