purple bush brown

I'm sure the Purple bush brown will not create much of an excitement to most of you than The harlequin but it is first record shot for me.

Found it inside the wooded area at USR.

hmm... got such a species call normal bush brown :hmmm: :bsmile: i think most bush brown got 7 rings on the hindwing and some variation of number of rings on the forewing.

Good record shot. Nice chance to see and shoot it. I must count the rings carefully next time when I see a Bush Brown as BJ or CP mentioned that the purple markings may not be obvious to our eyes.

Pic 1 can see the obvious purplish but the last shot has no/less purple?

This is the one I shot on 17th June when I went bush bashing during the Royal interval, there were at least 3 of them , very tough customer....I ended up totally drenched and dirty chasing and crawling on the dark undergrowth to get this shot .

Which was confirmed by Khew on the spot to be the Purple Bush Brown that I have been looking high and low for !:bsmile:
