The three species C. santana, sperthis & bulis belongs to a group characterised by a speckling of black dots .
They can be quite confusing to separate from the underside alone in fieldshots due to perspective distortion.
28416
Curetis sperthis sperthis.
The diagnostic feature in the male is that the UpH space 7 is black.
UpF postdiscal band band is more parallel to the margin in the lower half.
HW postdiscal spot 6 & 7 are lunulate & in line, submarginal spots 6 & 7 likewise.
These images are set specimens as the only way to ensure the IDs are correct.

Note the observation matches the markings.
In addition the broken part of the HW shows space5 marginal area largely black which is often in sperthis & bulis.
(IN C. santana the black margin in space 5 is typically narrow.)

Curetis santana
HW space 7 mostly orange.
UpF band oblique.
UnH postdiscal spot 6 & 7 inline ,margins mostly straight.
UnH submarginal spots 6 & 7 dislocated & out of line.

Curetis bulis.
HW space 7 at least half black.
UnF band oblique.
UnH postdiscal spot 6 tuck under spot 7.
UnH submarginal spot 6 & 7 usually joined end to end.

I wonder which Curetis species is featured in the following picture (taken on 2 Oct 2007 at the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve)?

Post 3.

This is interesting because it looks to be Curetis bulis stigmata
However this needs an upperside for confirmation.
HW postdiscal spot 7 is large with rounded margin.
HW submarginal spots 6 & 7 in line ,in a curve marked by black dots.
Apical costa with more black spots.
Examples from P. Malaysia.

Compare Curetis santana malayica.
HW postdiscal spot 7 with straighter margin usually.
HW submarginal spots 6 & 7 strongly dislocated.
FW costa with less black spots.

Male Curetis saronis sumatrana.

Curetis in Singapore are divided into two groups.

A. Ground speckled with black dots.

A1. FW band nearly parallel to margin....C. sperthis.

A2. FW band oblique......Submarginal spots 6 & 7 dislocated, out of line... C. santana
http://www.butterflycircle.com/checklist/mugshots/Curetis%20santana%20malayica/Malayan-Sunbeam---Sunny-Chir.jpg

A3. FW band oblique ;HW submarginal spots 6 & 7 more or less aligned.... C. bulis stigmata.

B. Underside not speckled with black dots ; FW band parallel to margin.

B1. Legs banded red /redbrown...................C. saronis.
