I would appreciate some comments on the identification of this "Royal" species photographed at Omkoi, nw Thailand on 9 Dec 22 at 980 metres.
Having looked at various literature and websites I think I can narrow this down to either Creon cleobis or Tajuria culta. Not having extensive experience of these species I am undecided. Unfortunately Yutaka's Butteflies of Indo-China does not have a specimen of Cleon cleobis cleobis (the northern form), though I do have a photo of this taxon from n. Thialand, which looks appreciably darker with wider discal lines than this one.
My gut feeling is that this is Tajuria culta, though I do not like the point that the blue of the inner hindwing appears to continue to the edge of the hindwing which from Yutaka's images of culta does not seem to be the case for culta. Comments greatly appreciated.

I would also add that Cleon cleobis looks incorrect as the hindwing dical band on this individual seems to run parallel to the termen which, as pointed out in Kimura, is not the case with cleobis. My other image of cleobis seems to verify this.

It should be female Tajuria sekii.

Salient features.

1 FW postdiscal band is nearer margin than the cellend.
This effectively exclude both Cleon cleobis & Tajuria culta, which have the FW band nearer the cellend.

Of the Tajuria species with the band closer to the margins both T mantra & deudorix are found further spouth & have large orange patches.

2. Blue scales around both black spots.
Pratapa species are very similar but there are no blue scales in space 1a or 2.

Many thanks for the extensive details. Interestingly the only previously confirmed Thai record (see Yutaka's website) is also from Omkoi.
