Mycalesis in Thailand can be very difficult as there are half a dozen species which are very similar.


12. Mycalesis perseus

White striaes(lines) around eyespots thin, not enhanced .
HW inner margins of eyespots form a deep & wide bowl like indentation.
LOwer 4 HW spots out of line.

2. Mycalesis mineus.
White striae around eyespots thin (as in perseus)
HW inner margins of spots form a traigular indentation, the apex in the upper 1/3.
HW lower 4 eyespots in line.

M. perseoides have heavy white striae & HW inner margins of eyespots is jagged.
(M. perseoides in Thailand is different from those further south in Malaysia & Singapore.)

Underside finely striated.
