Dear Dr. Seow sir,

I am posting images of some lycaenidae butterflies for id review and corrections.

Catochrysops panormus

Keys collected from this forum: FW black spot near to postdiscal band ; FW submarginal spots, somewhta angled and forms a zigzag band.


a). Tentative ID: Catochrysops panormus

c). Tentative ID: Catochrysops strabo

Keys cllected from this forum: FW black spot midway between band & cell-end bar ; FW submarginal spots form a continuous dark band.

2. Tentative ID: Jamides caeruleus

Keys matches? collected from this forum:
Darker greyish-brown ground colour ; FW postdiscal band dislocated , the lowest stria looks hangs free in the middle of the band.
Pehaps a Male with FW striae in lower part blue-tinted?
UnH overall striae very thin & looks straight ; 2nd stria in space 7 nearer or aligned with 3rd stria in cell.

C. panormus; FW costal spot close to postdiscal band. Submarginal spots lunules or chevrons.
Male upperside with silvery veins.

C. strabo FW costal spot far from postdiscal band (variable). FW submarginal spots forms a regular band with margins mostly level.
Male upperside without the veins silvery.

With the costal spot nearer postdiscal band (resembles some examples of C. panormus)

2 & 3 Jamides caeruleus male & female.

J. caeruleus; FW Male underside darkish, striae often less sharp.
FW last white stria of postdiscal band hangs free or nearly so.
HW 2nd stria in space 7 nearer to the 3rd stria in the cell.

Jamides elpis. Underside white striae usually sharp.
FW last stria of postdiscal band attached to the inner margin.
HW 2nd stria in space 7 closer to the 2nd stria in the cell.

This one is actually J. caeruleus. Upperside FW bluer with broader black border. (note HW 2nd stria in space 7 is only midway between 2nd & 3rd stria in the cell).
