Hi Dr Seow,

Request ID help for 2 Judys taken at Pulau Ubin, Singapore.

Abisara saturata kausambioides Or
Abisara geza niya ?

They are both Abisara saturata. The female suggest some crossed genes from A. geza.

The male Abisara have the HW tail at vein 4 rounded.
It is sharp-tipped in the female.


A. saturata.
Male FW twin postdiscal bands parallel , straight or slightly curved.
FW outer submarginal white line obsolete.
HW postdiscal band more or less curved & not angulated at vein 4.
Tornal two black spots with extended tips.

Female with FW twin postdiscal bands' inner margins usually more or less straight & parallel (sometimes slightly curved).
Outer submarginal line weak.
HW postdiscal band not angulated at vein 4 & tornal two spots with extended tips.

Male with FW outer postdiscal band distinctly bent.
Outer white submarginal line present, often strong.
HW postdiscal band angulated at vein 4.
Twin tornal spots without extended tip.

Female ;FW outer postdiscal band strongly bent, inner band less.
FW outer submarginal white line strong.
HW postdiscal band angulated at vein 4.

A third species A. kausambi have the postdiscal band sraight from FW to HW.
