View Full Version : Nacaduba pavana - confirmation of ID

From Kanchanaburi, western Thailand.
Based on the scaled tornal spot, the dark inner striae and rather thick white striae in general, I can only make this N. pavana.

However, there are a couple of things about that ID that I don't like. Almost all images of pavana show 3-4 marks along the costal edge of the forewing whereas this looks clean. Also the distance between the two inner most pairs of striae on both wings looks greater than usual.

Any comments on this identification please?

Nacaduba hermus swatipa.

Ignore the dark striae within the cellend bars .They are always strong in all species.

N. pavana; Dark striae within bands very strongly developed.Submarginal & marginal spots dark.
HW black tornal spot with blue scales.

N. hermus ;Dark striae within bands weak, often disintegrating .
HW tornal black spot with some blue scales.

N. sanaya ;Dark striae within dands absent or nearly obsolete.
HW tornal spot without blue scales.
