View Full Version : Matapa cresta or Matapa sasivarna?

Upper and under images of same individual from Doi Suthep.
I would make this M. cresta based on the apex of the upper forewing being slightly paler than the rest of the wing. However, there are a few green scales visible on the upper wing, though this could simply be light reflection. But, the darkened veins on the underwing should point to M. sasivarna.

M. sasivarna ;Ground colour more or less evenly brown , FW lighter ,with the veins darkened.

M. cresta ;FW apex & HW base much paler. HW veins not (or slightly ) darkened.
