Dear Dr Seow, is this Eurema hecabe contubernalis (on behalf of a friend)? Thanks!

This is a tricky one.
The narrower black border & its shape suggest it could be E. blanda.

E. blanda typically has a spot at the base of HW space 7, very rarely absent.
Here there is a spot on vein 8 near the base suggesting a misplaced spot.
However there are no confirmed E. blanda with such a spot whereas E. hecabe sometimes have a tiny dot on vein 8.
The HW shape is equivocal.
On balance I feel it is more probably E. hecabe.

E. hecabe with a black dot on HW vein 8 near base.

It is more likely to be E. hecabe which frequently have the cellspots missing.
I don't think there is any example of E. blanda with all 3 cellspots missing.

TL Seow: Cheers.
