Polyura or Charaxes arja. dsf.

The P athamas through out India ssp bharata is raised by some to full species based on genetic studies.

Both arja & bharata have dsf & wsf which can be very similar on the underside.

P. arja :
1 FW less concave; apex less sharp.
2 FW cell usually with one black dot' a 2nd black dot may be present but poorly formed & nearer the black line.
3. FW pale band whitish, perpendicular to lower margin , its outer margin straight up encompassing most of the subapical spot.
4. Subapical spot mostly rectangular.

P. athamas for comparison of above linked image. ;Note the 2 FW black dots should be parallel to the thick black line for athamas/bharata.

Some authors now placed Polyura as a synonym of Charaxes as phylogeneti studies show them to be closely related to several African Charaxes. & so not logically separable.
