1. female A. agrata:Note FW spot 9 obsolete.
2&3 same individual. Female A. vihara.
4.probably A. sublustris. one of 3 possibilities. A. sublustris, milleri & phaenops.
5. pair. probably A. lurida .A. lurida is darker with spots better-contrasted & HW postdiscal spots 4 & 5 more aligned ie overlapping widely.
6. typical A. atosia female : note HW spots 4 & 5 almst separated. Compare with A. lurida.
7. A. buddha female :Note stiff tails & HW spots 6 & 7.
8. A antimuta female :Note tailless & position of HW spots 6 & 7.

9 & 10 male ,11 female A. stubbsi. Similar to A. zylda but HW spots 2 to 5 not aligned. Correction: Arhopala amphimuta.
12. A. epimuta female ;FW spot 4 shifted out; HW tornus with a white cilial dot.
13. A allata female: HW spots 5 ,6, & 7 in echelon & squarish or rectangular.
14. A. delta male :Tail at vein 2 broken( note interupted pale marginal line);HW spots 5,6,&7 more rounded.Correction: Arhopala amphimuta.

Post 2.

9, 10, & 11. are likely Arhopala amphimuta.

The FW band which tapers to the costa & the metalmark with a large black spot is typical of A. amphimuta/major.
The two can be confused since their markings seem to overlap.

A: A. amphimuta/major medium sized FW 22mm.

A. amphimuta ;typically HW spots in space 7 usually large ;postdiscal spot 1b strongly V;shaped.

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yG1leEZCs5o/TjPzkyawWqI/AAAAAAAALUw/coU-B_sVRTA/s1600/A_amphimuta_Mark_01.jpg

Arhopala major: typically HW spots in space 7 often small ;spot 1b often J-shaped or with unequal arms.
http://www.butterflycircle.com/checklist/mugshots/Arhopala%20major%20major/Arhopala%20major%20major%20-%20Tan%20CP.jpg
http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Nv4Rw9OCFhY/US-JKiQkdxI/AAAAAAAAT2U/VaVwpp_BuiY/s1600/A_major_open_wing_01.gif

B Arhopala zylda/stubbsi small FW 17mm.
FW band do not tapers at costa; HW metalmark black spot small.

Following the key in C&P4 can be difficult. Size alone immediately separates the two group.

TL Seow: Cheers.

Post 2. No 14.

The stub at HW vein 2 is not a lost tail but a tooth.
The markings are similar to amphimuta/major.
Probably A. amphimuta.

If you can remember the size of 9, 10, & 11 it will certainly helps.
This because 10 & 11 seem almost toothless at HW vein 2. If so they can not be amphimuta or major.

They however do not look like zylda/stubbsi or the muta subgroup eg metamuta ,muta, moorei.
A. muta.

Female Arhopala atosia.
FW spot 4 dislocated outwards; HW spot 4 & 5 almost separated; poorly defined markings.

Post 11. Female probably A. phaenops.

The alea subgroup of the cleander group are particularly difficult to ID from the underside alone.

The key is very imprecise.
The other species are excluded by deduction.

A.aurelia strong purple wash ;HW spot 6 widely overlapping lower spots.
A. evansi : slately glaze ; strong contrast of markings; FW band wide .

The others are hair brown.

A. selta FW band wide; HW spot 6 large widely overlapping cellend bar.
A. phanda FW band wide ;HW spots 6 & 7 quadrate & column-like.
A. sublustris, milleri & aroa. FW band evenly medium wide HW spot 6 narrower at bottom, convex outer margin , & overlapping cellend bar.
A. normani: FW band not widened downwards; HW spot 6 rather quadrate & widely overlapping cellend bar.

A. phaenops :FW band not widened downwards ;HW spot 6 rounded not or barely overlapping cellend bar.

TL Seow: Cheers.
PS. A. sublustris is the commonest of the group & is itself very variable.
Note :FW spot 10 usually present ;spot 9(topmost) of FW band usually shifted in; HW spot 6 , narrower at bottom, convex outer margin & overlaps the cellend bar.
examples.

Post 13.

1. A. allata; male . distinctive in HW rectangular spots 6 & 7 ;FW termen straight.
2. A. sublustris/milleri female , alea subgroup; HW spot 6 overlaps cellend bar.
Since both Fleming & C&P4 shows milleri with the topmost spot 9 of the FW band in line ,it suggest this species.
3. A.moolaiana male. similar to major but HW with white tornal cilia dot; HW spot 1b a fat V.(A norda similar but with narrow V spot)
4. A. allata male.
5. A. silhetensis female.FW space between submarginals T postdiscal band nearly 2X that of band ; HW spot 6 not overlapping any spot; spot 7 sinuous, S-shaped.

Post #16 - Either horsfieldi or eumolphus. One of the ventral shots on the eumolphus species page in the checklist is definitely misidentified (probably should be athada)

[QUOTE=atronox;130362]Post #16 - Either horsfieldi or eumolphus.

The differencw between the two is very slight.
The metalmark consist of a outer greener band & an inner (upper) greyer band.

A. eumolphus; In space 1b (between tornal black spot & tail) the green band is about as wide to about 1 1/2 that of the grey.

A. horsfieldi. In space 1b, the green band is about 2 X that of the grey band; also grey band less continuous/poorer after vein 2 (the tail)
Malaya, & Thailand (different ssp.)
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-faa-txGsHls/U6WafMtzaNI/AAAAAAAAPjQ/utXa5SZNnRM/s1600/DSC_0321.JPG
http://www.samuibutterflies.com/02_images/travels/lycaenidae/arhopalahorsfieldieurysthenes.v.jpg

Based on this all three are likely A. horsfieldi.
I presumed they were taken in the same area.

" One of the ventral shots on the eumolphus species page in the checklist is definitely misidentified (probably should be athada)"

Agreed with this. A few misplaced examples in the checklist.

"Post #17 - Arhopala aedias agnis"

A. aedias is recognised by the more rounded spots which caused the bands to be more macular (composed of separated spots.)
