For the longest time, i had always wondered what the distinction between M. marginata and pitana was since they're both practically identical, especially ventrally. This was only necessary because they are said to "occur sympatrically on both Sumatra and Borneo".

BUT... i stumbled upon this recent paper: http://www.troplep.org/TLR-24-2-web-Brattstrom.pdf

... which clarifies matters greatly. The source of confusion is misidentification of the two spp. Consequently, because it has since been shown that pitana only occurs on Borneo and marginata only on Sumatra, there is no need to even consider any other physical feature and so LC's specimen is definitely pitana.
