View Full Version : Curetis sperthis a hidden species.

Five or six species of Curetis were recorded in Singapore but only two seem to be around.
However, they are so similar as to be easily overlook.

Curetis sperthis.
Upperside with HW space 7 mostly black (always hidden from view) orange patch variable.
Underside FW band nearly parallel to termen, the portion in space 4 & 5 strongly ptrotruding (like a pair of buckteeth).

Female C. sperthis. Note black dots/speckles ; FW band nearly parallel to termen, & protruding in spaces 4 & 5.

Curetis santana.
Upperside HW space 7 orange; FW orange typically slanted up.
Underside FW band oblique. the part in space 4 & 5 bearly protrude from the main band.
