In the last month I visited three times Krung Ching waterfall and some surrounding zone, for pleasure and to guide two groups of foreign photographers.

Of course I got several interesting butterflies:

I joined one of Antonio's groups one day and came across these two which I am having difficulty in placing.

1) A Pyroneura sp., but I always have trouble with them. Very heavily cropped!
2) An apparently worn lycaenid, but the spots have me confused.

1. Pyroneura latoia female.
FW silverstreak in space 5; HW vein 8 only orange-scaled on one side; antenna only the club yellow.

2. can only be Plautella cossaea.
Submarginal lunulate line.HW no spot at base space 7; HW extra small spot on inner margin(dorsum).
Note there is a very small spot in lower half of HW cell (its position is correct for the HW cellspot.C&P4 pl35/52 shows example with a tiny HW cellspot.

1. Probably Curetis santana.
It is not the female of C. saronis, tagalica, or bulis, so my guess it is the female of santana.

2. Choaspes subcaudatus crawfurdi.
The two with long tails are very difficult to separate at rest as the black 'tongue' in space 1a is totally hidden

In C. subcaudatus the HW margin is prominently angled at vein 4, the colour tends to reflect more blue.
In C. stigmatus the HW margin is more gently curved at vein 4 & the colour is more bronzy green.
The two features can be readily seen in C&P4 Plate 52, image 30 for stigmatus & 32 for subcaudatus.
(Note the set specimens are all taken together, so the colour difference could not be wrong.)

C. subcaudatus Panti forest, Johore, Malaysia. Note HW margin at vein 4 noticeably angled.

C. stigmatus Vietnam. Note the tongue in space 1a can just be seen & it is short; HW margin rounded at vein 4.

Zographetus doxus is correct.
Antennal club half white above; large upper cellspot; patchy HW colour.

The Zographetus species can be confusingly similar.

Z. doxus :male antennal club 1/2 -3/4 white above; large FW upper cellspot; patchy HW colour.

Z. ogygia; male antennal club wholly white above ;FW upper cellspot small/absent; HW unicolorous. redbrown-golden brown. Assam, ?Thailand; Samui.

The picture is complicated by the Indian website.
Note; India 2 spp. Z. ogygia & satwa ,both in the east-Assam to S.E. Asia.
The website seem to show ?3 species under Z. ogygia.
In particular examples from Goa & Kerala which are out of the range of Zographetus satwa & ogygia according to the Checklist & in Funet. HW patchy colour; black cellspot tiny or obsolete.

Underside with a noticeable purple wash.

02. Arhopala allata.
HW spots 5, 6, & 7 in echelon (in line & staggered.);Spots 6 & 7 . narrow & rectangular.
Green metalmark distinctive.

01. Likely Arhopala horsfieldi.

Female Pyroneura natuna.
HW vein 8 scaled orange on both sides.
FW opalescent streak prominent in space 5; no hyaline dot in space 5.

P. helena :HW similar.
FW opalescent streak prominent ; hyaline dot in space 5, after the streak.

P. flavia: HW similar.
FW opalescent streak obscure or obsolete; hyaline dot in space 5.

Oops!
The upperside shows a tiny spot in space 5 not seen in P. natuna.(upperside spots are all hyaline.)

So this should be P. helena female.

TL Seow:Cheers.
PS A female P. natuna for comparison.

Pyroneura sp. (https://flic.kr/p/xy2gzs)

http://i62.tinypic.com/2qvw50p.jpg

Even using the zoom feature it is hard to make out the hyaline spot in space 5.
It is just beside the faint white spot on the inside.
In contrast the same area in P. natuna is plain orange.
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_OoI2F3K-8E/VK53dOfJtBI/AAAAAAAATYo/36wIHPsiWP8/s1600/DSC_0079.JPG

The 2nd ID clue is that the veins in P. helena are yellow & in P. natuna orange-yellow.
This become apparent when the two are placed side by side.

The two were once considered as one species but has since been separated.
It is quite probable that field shots of P. helena are routinely ID'ed as P. natuna.
