These are good pix of a male Telicota linna.

In the past the heavier blackish shading on the HW underside (pix 1) was thought to be an indicator of T. ohara.
This has proven to be false.

There are 4 features which helps in the ID of the male Telicota ohara.

1. The green circle marks the base of space 2 which is darkened or black in T. linna, bambusae, hilda & ohara.
In the other species ie T. augias, colon & besta there is a triangular orange spot.
2. The brand is very narrow.
3. The basal orange bar in space 1b is much darkened (blackish in the female).
4. The upper( or inner) margin of the HW band is not strongly notched at vein 4 (likewise in the female).

Note the apparent deep HW notch is caused by the broken part of the FW tornus.
