On the way back home from Chiang Mai, a 'stop-over' with some Thai friends in this very interesting location, hunting for 2 different Jungle Queens (I seen but failed to catch the Stichophtalama cambodia cambodia).

Anyway a good catch, mostly Hesperiidae:

The upperside of the Cirrachroa species looks much, much closer to C. emalea emalea. Are you sure! The underside is the same, I think.

The SE ssp. of the JungleQueen is stunning. Shame about S. cambodia!

Great Hesperiidae photos!

You are right about the Cirrochroa.

I got the ID from my local friends.

Beautiful junglequeen!!! :grin2:

The underside almost looks pearlescent!
I'm guessing it must be quite large..

One is a Taractrocera sp., no apiculus, but I do not want to go further.

Post 2.

No. 4 should be Pyroneura perakana.
P. perakana have FW costa (space 12) from midway orange to the base ; in both callineura & margherita it is dark brown.
A bit of the costal base on the FW upperside can be seen to be orange.

The HW costa basal margin pf P. margherita is marked white.

Interesting, I am not aware that Pyroneura perakana has yet been found in Thailand outside the peninsular. I may well be a bit behind times.

Are you sure about Potanthus ganda?

Are you sure about Potanthus ganda?

For a moment I thought ,yes there seems to be no apiculus , but the HW spot 7 indicates it is Potanthus.

P. lydia have the FW spot 3 barely concave on the outer margin.
Of the extra Malayan species, P. nesta & pseudomaesa have darkened veins.
P. pallidus & sita have the HW band dislocated.

It does looks good for P. ganda which is a common species in Malaya.

Les you are right it is a Taractrocera. T. luzonensis. (formerly T. ziclea.)
HW spot 7 looks odd & small ;HW cellspot large.
In particular the HW upper combined spot 4 & 5 have its inner margin forming a V, a Taractrocera feature.

There are a couple of Taractrocera with HW spots 7. T. ardonia , luzonenesis, maevis.
Only T. luzonensis have yellow spots ; the band width is highly variable.
