Just to open for when either of us manage to process our photos from day 3 of our trip.

We had hoped to have a bit of forest walking, but we were told that the path to the waterfall was impassable owing to the massive rains that have been soaking the area in the past couple of weeks. However, there were a couple of interesting areas on the road leading to the start of the waterfall path.

This NP was an Athyma paradise!

1) Athyma ranga obseclescens (Black-veined Sergeant)
2) Athyma selenophora bahula (Staff Sergeant)
3) Athyma pravara indosinica (Lance Sergeant)
4) Athyma sp. Can not work out what this one is! - UPDATE: A. zaroca galaesus (female), Thanks to Seow.

.....Athyma cont

5) Athyma zeroca galesus (Small Staff Sergeant)
6) Athyma larymna siamensis (Great Siam Sergeant) - Not a cooperative model!
7) Athyma asura asura (Studded Sergeant)
8) Athyma whitei (Blue-Bordered Sergeant)??? - This is not on the the official Thailand list. Yutaka wonders if it may be a hybrid. I saw two specimens of this and was shown a photo of another one taken earlier this year in the same area. If it is a hybrid, they must hybridize a lot! It looks more like A. cama, but that species has an orange apical spot. Confused about this one!

Post 2 No. 4.

Having seen all the pix I am inclined to believe this is the female of A. whitei.

As you said the male A. whitei is rather like A. cama & the bluish tinge is like nefte..
A. cama & nefte are closely related and have similar dimorphic females.

The females can be separated.
A. cama female: of the 3 subapical spots (forming a band) the outer spot 4 is smaller & the underside margin forms a notch.
http://yutaka.it-n.jp/lim1/720570001.html
A. nefte female: outer spot 4 large & lower margin even without a notch.
http://yutaka.it-n.jp/lim1/720580010.html

Post 2 No.4 is closer to the female A. cama but diifers in spot 4 being right near the margin, in the othersubmarginals, & spot 3 as well.
If A. whitei belongs to the nefte group then its female will likely be similar.
A. whitei.

Antonio, your Post #8, No.1 is not Athyma zeroca galaesus, the last part of the forewing discal stripe is far too wide, there is a clear cell stripe and also, on the hindwing, a clear white-ish submarginal band where it is brown in A. zeroca.

It is the confusing one, some say Athyma whitei, others that it is a hybrid, but no-one can agree. If it is a hybrid, which two species? Almost certainly, one would be A. selenophora, but the choice of the other is between A. zeroca or A. cama! I tend towards the latter, but no proof, just a personal opinion.

1) Neptis sp. I suspect this is Neptis clinia susruta, but am not positive.
2) Pseudergolis wedah wedah (Tabby)
3) Symbrenthia hypselis sinis (Himalayan Jester)

The Silver Royal is the northern ssp. Ancema blanka minturna.

My last few from this Park:
1) To add to Antonio's photo, the upperside of Rhinopalpa polynice birmana (Wizard) - Male
2) Libythea myrrha sanguinalis (Club Beak)
3) Mimathyma ambica miranda (Indian Purple Emperor) - I tried to get into a position where the purple sheen showed up fully, but despite many attempts, failed!

It is Neptis clinia .
As the key states the HW band enters the base of space 3, seen as a tiny white dot.

Yes, but just wait until you come up further north! I have not yet worked out the number of new species/subspecies I found in just 4 poor weather days, and I missed a lot. Keep your camera battery regularly recharged for November!!!
