Dr Seow,

Following photo was taken in South Garo Hills, Meghalay, India. Evans 1949 mentions hiraca as synonym of acroleucus and few other sites are showing as distinct species. Kindly confirm the following species and will be glad to know the differences.

In the Addenda and Corrigenda leaflet of our main reference book for butterflies in our region, "Butterflies of the Malay Peninsula", the notes for this species reads :

Beschreibung einer neuen Art, Entomol. Z 102 : 133-142 have shown that the butterfly called Erionota acroleuca in this book must be known as Erionota hiraca (Moore, 1881). The latter name was published one month earlier than acroleuca, which becomes a synonym of hiraca."

Thanks for the reply.

Even, I was referring it as synonym but then funet shows it as distinct species. That's the confusion.
