Yes. It is S. hippoclus.
Forewing spot in space 3 pinkish (likewise the spots on the hindwing).
In S. lilaea, the same spot is orange (same as the ground colour).

Correction: This is actually Symbrenthia lilaea.

Thank you Seow. Now I know how to ID these two. In the past I always try to ID them based on the upper side which is very confusing.

May not be as simple as this, LC. As you can see some males of S. lilaea may have the spot 3 greyish & differently coloured.

For confirmation look at the dark line that runs from spot 3 to the forewing costa. It is sinuous.

In S. lilaea this line forms a tongue-like protrusion.
This is reflected by a deeper notch to the inside margin of the subapical band on the upperside. It is about the only way to ID from the topside.

TL Seow:cheers:
PS> After looking at the Singaporean examples of S. hippoclus , all the features are variable so ID can be difficult.
The cellular bar topside of S. lilaea seems to be always strongly notched on the upper margin though your S. hippoclus also shows this.

Both are S. hippoclus.
They have the distinctive pale spots on both the wings.
The dark line from the forewing spot to the costa (forward margin) is sinuous and not looped into a projection.
Generally S. lilaea is largely orange-brown on the hindwing.

( Correction : The IDs as you have suggested are correct.)

Wow! These two are so confusing it took me a long time to figure out what the text in C&P4 was trying to say.

Kindly ignore all previous comments.

Symbrenthia lilaea.
Forewing discal spot in space 3 largely tawny orange.
(This is the triangular area to the inside of the rounded spot (which is the postdiscal spot.)
Hindwing dark subbasal band with a short small tongue.(at origin of vein 5 & 6)
Hindwing discal spot in space 7 (squarish & just to the outside of the dark band) clear orange.
Upperside cellular band's upper margin deeply notched.

Symbrenthia hippoclus
Forewing discal triangular 'spot' in space 3 shaded pinkish.
Hindwing dark sub-basal band with a longer tongue at origin of vein 5 & 6.
Hindwing discal spot in space 7 partially shaded with brown.
Upperside cellular bar's upper margin shallowly notched.

So LC, your post 1 pic is S. lilaea.
Post 7 pic 1 is S. lilaea & pic 2 is S. hippoclus as you have correctly indicated.
