First shot of the Blue Nawab in the wild!

I didn't believe it was possible that it was a Blue Nawab even after it landed and Nelson (who was much nearer to the butterfly) said: "What is that ar?! Blue nawab!!"

I said: "Blue nawab meh?" and nonchalently put my camera to my eye... only to see it was INDEED A BLUE NAWAB.

Of course it was not the best shot but still... in the wild! (Poor Nelson did not manage to get a shot. He was busy nagging me: "The butterfly is going to fly already! It has closed its wings! Hurry Hurry Hurry!")

And then it flew away.... I remembered to explain carefully that this was only the second time I've seen it at human eye level since I started shooting that many years ago. After that I had to relinquish all rights to shooting any butterfly first on subsequent field trips.

Ooh, plus I also shot a f. nivas form of Malayan Eggfly too. But I shan't make a separate thread for that. I'll just allow the Blue Nawab to steal all of its limelight.

Well done, Ellen. Not often you get to meet this fella at eye level, and a pristine one to boot!

How come the colour is a bit bland? Almost greyish.

Nicely captured Ellen!

Thank God !!! ...your camera still works !~!!:bsmile:

 ..... which is worst? a nagging GF/BF with butterfly in viewfinder or nagging wife/husband when you try to head out to peep into your viewfinder ??:bsmile:

Thanks everyone! Mark, yes I danced around Nelson for the rest of the trek. Unker sunny, it depends on what is in the view finder. William, it's great to be back (for a while). Unker Khew, I really dunno lei...

I think the greyish color could be due to slight WB issue and the bland color is because the butty has traveled far and wide resulting in worn out colors.:grin2:

Here's a half open winged shot :)

Nice find! Also, glad to see that you are shooting once again. Too much work getting in the way?
