Which Dart?

I have a big confusion among this similar Palm Darts & relatives... :embrass:

The Palm Darts are rather confusing, more so the females. However, by combining the descriptions in C&P4 and Fleming (Butterflies of West Malaysia- out of print.) I am getting a better picture.

Females may be IDed thus.

Underside hindwing greenish ochreous; veins lightly darkened.
T. besta.
T. colon. Forewing spots with concave margins and often mishapened.

Underside hindwing with fuscous(dark) scalings.
T. ohara.
T. hilda (montane).

Underside orange -ochreous.
T. augias ; veins across band lightly darkened.
T. linna; ground colour yellower & veins hardly darkened.

One more T. bambusae occur in your area & is said to resembles T. linna.
This one should be T. augias female.

I should add the key is meant for the females.

For example the male T. augias is very orangey on the underside and the veins across the hindwing band are not darkened.

Very interesting! I have no Telicota from Samui, something that has been concerning me for a long time. However, I do have very many Cephrenes aculle. I must revisit that file.....again!!!! I strongly suspect there are one, or two, lurking inside.

Still take advantage of kindness of some members of the forum to try to ID another Dart, possibly the Palm Dart as well.

This is a male Cephrenes acalle, the species that Les is talking about. :)
