At long last something to post from yesterday's walk.

I came across a couple of tiny skippers. The first I am sure is Oriens gola pseudolus, but the second could be Oriens goloides, as there appears to be a black bar in space 5 of the forewing. The underside is also different in the first specimen from one I took a while ago, could they be male & female?

1) Upperside of O. gola
2) Upperside of possible O. goloides (poor shot, but only one I have)
3) Underside of O. gola from yesterday
4) Underside of O. gola of a specimen shot a while ago

Other species seen yesterday not shown here often.

5) The rare Euthalia ipona (female). Strange, but I have only ever seen females!
6) Neptis clinia - this never allowed a shot from a good vantage point.

1, 2 & 4 are O. gola.

3 is also O. gola. I have initially thought this was goloides as the shape of the band appeared different, but the dark veins should be quite distinct throughout the bands. This one is rather worn.

O. goloides have the veins darkened above and below.
On the upperside the promontory below the cell spot is separated as a 2nd spot.

Thanks for the confirmation.

After looking at a pic of a valid O. goloides I am wondering whether pic 3 is that of O. goloides.
In particular, apart from the darkened veins(thought to be due to abrasion) the forewing periphery is very dark.
Here is a valid O. goloides female with upper for confirmation.

Compare with pic 3 , and pic 4 which is typical O. gola female.

It looks like O. goloides is also present in Singapore.
Federik's pic in Bah Soon Pah 2010. Note lightly darkened veins & dark periphery of forewing.

Thank you. However, I do have an upperside of pic 3, which makes me pretty certain it is O. gola.

Scratched one.
But, these two species are certainly very similar on the undersides.
